Maldives… the name itself is enough to fascinate and excite any wander luster. An all-time dream destination and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places existing on planet earth, Maldives was on my bucket-list as far as my memory goes. However, as all the beautiful things are not easy to get, similarly visiting the Maldives requires savings and a half! After years of dreaming to see the paradise which the Maldives is; I finally got an opportunity to visit the country this summer.

Searching the web to death for finding that one ideal resort that fits my needs and my pocket as well, I stumbled upon the Paradise Island Resort in Lankanfinolhu Island on the Maldives. I couldn’t get any happier because Paradise Island Resort was everything I was looking to spend my much-awaited dream vacation. But before we dive deep into the review here is a brief summary of why I loved the Paradise Island Resort that made me write this review.

Paradise Island Resort At A Glance
Located in the North Male Atoll just a short and sweet twenty minutes speedboat ride away from the airport, lies the Paradise Island Resort, island (if that makes sense). It is also called Lankanfinolhu Island in the local language. The first reason that made me fell in love with the island was its short distance from the airport and the capital city of Male alike. Resorts that are far from the airport requires a speed plane to reach, which comes at a huge additional cost. Therefore, opting for a nearer island is always the best bet.
The Paradise Island Resort is a luxurious and spacious resort with ample space to stroll around, relax and enjoy the serenity. There are plenty of accommodation options with different price ranges to choose from; twenty overwater villas and more than fifty sea-facing bungalows; a major thumbs up for the budget traveler.
If you love some extra luxury then you can go for the Haven villa, which is an overwater villa with an ocean-facing Jacuzzi. The most luxurious accommodation at the resort is the Haven Suite, which has its very own private swimming pool too! You can also switch between staying at the overwater villas and the sea-facing bungalows according to your budget (do inform the property about this beforehand).
Now let’s get into the nitty-gritty A.K.A the real stuff!
Quick Information

Booking.comThings To Do At Paradise Island Resort
Many tourists and travel bloggers too have often termed Maldives as a ‘not very interesting’ A.K.A a boring country to visit. However, my experience at Paradise Island Resort was completely the opposite. Paradise Island Resort had many fun activities to do all day long. Also, how is it even possible to get bored on such a scenic island surrounded by the best views anyone can witness in all of their lives.

Here are the best things to do while you stay at the Paradise Island Resort
A Stroll On The White Sand
Walking barefoot on secluded turquoise water beach with soft white sand beneath your feet is nothing short of a dream! And you will get to live that dream while staying at the Paradise Island Resort. The resort has two different beach front areas; one near the main jetty area and the other one towards the water villas. Both the beach areas are equally beautiful, however; the one towards the water villas is a bit less crowded than the other one. There is a photogenic swing too at both of the beach-side for that perfect Instagram picture. Strolling all along the beach during the morning, evening and night too was one of my favorite activities to do at the resort.

Cycling On The Island
What can be a better way to rejuvenate within nature than cycling around a picturesque Maldivian Island? The Paradise Island Resort has paved cycling routes going through the thick plantations and coconut trees that surround the island. A bicycle can be rented totally free of charge, which can also be used to commute around the island as the island is big in size and walking around for the whole day can get a bit tiring. However, be careful to ride on the overwater wooden platform, which is a bit too narrow to ride on. Though the view of the symmetrical water villas is totally worth to take that risk!
Five Different Dining Options
This right here is one of the most important things to consider when you’re booking a resort in the Maldives. Staying on an isolated island away from the mainland is equivalent to limited food options. However, the Paradise Island Resort has got you covered here. There are four restaurants and one café cum bar on the island, which gives a variety of options to choose to eat from. I opted for the half board dining option during my stay, which only included the breakfast. If you want, you can go for the full-board option too, which means your three times meal expense will be covered in the initial payment only. But it implies that you will be eating from the same restaurant at the designated time only (sounds much like a college hostel routine)! The dining options include continental, Indian, Japanese, and Italian.
Tons of Water Activities
It is impossible to talk about the Maldives and not to mention the different water activities opportunities the country has to offer. The water activities at the Paradise Island Resort are managed by the Adventure Maldives Company. The water activities include everything from parasailing to diving. There are tons of diving sites but you will be taken to the nearest best diving site in the Maldives. The guys there are extremely professional so feel free to try whatever pleases you, even if you’re not a great swimmer (like me).
There are individual activity offers and also bundled packages for the adventure seeker. I opted for a bundled package that includes four different activities priced at $350. I don’t promise the offers to be very budget-friendly; however, a little negotiation might work. The island also offers free kayaking. Yes, FREE! However,
Adventurous Excursions Around The Island
Every resort in the Maldives offers excursion trips to different islands, a local island or night fishing and snorkeling trips at the least. The excursions desk at the Paradise Island Resort is right in front of the reception in the main lobby. I’ll be honest here, I didn’t book any excursion trip during my stay as it was a little too beyond my budget. However, to get up and close with the local Maldivian culture, a trip to a local island is a definite must thing to do… returning back to the gorgeous island soon to mark this excursion off my list!
Sip A Drink At The Hulhangu Bar
Quote me on this, Hulhangu bar will be your favorite place on the island! The Hulhangu bar is a sea facing café cum bar that is buzzing 24×7 on the island. It is also the center of all entertainment activities that the resort has to offer. Afternoon activities consist of free yoga lessons for the kids or belly dancing lesson for the ladies and gents too if they want to!
The evenings are more exciting. There is a different program set for each day, which includes fire shows, belly dancing, acrobatics, and many more fun things. As the midnight approaches, the bar is converted into a disco and you can shake your leg till dawn or as long as your stamina allows! The food options aren’t in plenty at Hulhangu bar but the beverages menu will not disappoint you at all.
Sharks and Manta Rays Feeding
I already mentioned that you will never get bored at Paradise Island Resort. To keep the guests busy and entertained there is a shark feeding activity which happens at the Japanese restaurant on the island sharp at 6 PM. It is astonishing to see how punctual the sharks are to come near the patio for food at the right time. Guests can either stand along or enjoy seeing the sharks, which are nearly twenty to thirty in number. They can feed them from the patio too.
If you’re feeling a little too adventurous, you can also grab your snorkeling gear and get into the water to feed the sharks from a distance. They are not harmful but it is always advisable to maintain a distance from them. A Manta Rays feeding also happens right in front of the Hulhangu Bar around 7 to 8 PM in the evening. A shoal a manta ray comes to the shore, which is then fed by a resort employee.
Play Sports And Remain Healthy
Fitness is one of those things which tourists tend to ignore while on vacation. Well, I’m also guilty of doing that too! But the Paradise Island Resort has enough physical sports activities to offer to keep you remain fit and busy during the vacation. The sports center is open from the morning till 10 PM in the night, from where you can rent the equipment for tennis, table tennis, basketball, and billiard too.
The best deal you may ask? It is all free of charge! The guy who manages the sports center is always eager to play a billiard game so it is always great to end the night with a game with him. There is a gym too at the resort, which operates from early in the morning till 8 PM in the evening,

But Why To Stay At The Paradise Island Resort?
Well, I deliberately kept this for the end. So, just in case even after reading all the amazing reasons I mentioned to stay at the Paradise Island Resort if you’re still looking for more inspiration then let me sum it up here. The Paradise Island Resort is a secluded gorgeous resort island that offers facilities that fits everyone’s budget. The staff is super supportive and courteous towards all the guests. I personally didn’t have any complaints whatsoever and my stay at the resort was nothing short of amazing. Also, would you mind waking up to views like this?

I have been dreaming of visiting the Maldives since the late 1980s when I was a little kid and my big cousin flew all the way from Germany to the Maldives. Your photos and reporting just brought back that old dream. One day…!!!
Very soon, Lacy! One day 🙂
Wow love this. Always appreciate a thorough and honest review, especially about something as big as a travel destination!
Apart from the beaches in Europe, I have never visited the Indian ocean, reading your post, this is a must visit place, one thing I`m unsure, do they speak English I do not speak any foreign language.
Hey Roamy! In my opinion, if you’re a beach person then you should definitely visit Asia for a beach holiday. The beaches in Asia are just mesmerizing! Also, English is the most widely spoken language in the Maldives as it is a tourist hub.
I haven’t been to a real beach in so long! I miss the ocean and the wind in my hair.
The Maldives have been on my bucket list ever since my sister went there for her honeymoon. Seriously so beautiful!
It is absolutely stunning! You should plan a visit to the Maldives soon
I’ve never been to Maldives. This place sounds amazing and looks so beautiful.
Absolutely STUNNING! I have always wanted to go to a resort over the water! I MUST check this one out!
The feeling of sleeping to sound of small waves gushing under the water villa is truly amazing! Though it is a like pricy, you should do try staying in an overwater villa for one night
This resort is do beautiful!! Your last picture staring out at the water is breathtaking. I would love to visit.
Thank you so much, Kay 🙂 and yes, the Paradise Island Resort is very very beautiful!
