Where To Stay In Istanbul? Review of Ramada Hotel Suites Golden Horn

Istanbul, the capital of the old Byzantine Empire and the only city to lie on the intersection of two continents is notably a favorite travel destination of travelers from around the world. Diversity, history, culture, food – you name it, Istanbul has it. The most popular choice of city to visit in Turkey among the travelers, it often gets confusing to decide where to stay in Istanbul. The old town, the Asian side or a quieter European neighborhood – it can become an absolute dilemma deciding on where to stay in Istanbul.

Getting there

As both the airports in Istanbul are quite far from the city center, airport pick-up, and drop-off are one of the main concerns of many travelers while planning where to stay in Istanbul. I was provided with a complimentary airport pick-up from the Sabiha Gokcen airport by the hotel. The hotel arranges airport pick-up and drop-off from all the airports in Istanbul at an additional cost.

Another hassle-free option is to book a door to door ride with Kiwi Taxi. They offer airport pick-up and drop-off all across the world

My Experience at Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn

My stay at Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn happened after a ten days long trip across Turkey. After exploring three different cities in Turkey at a fast pace, finally, when I was back to Istanbul – all I wanted to do was to rejuvenate and relax. My body had been longing for a nice spa session! Looking at the spa services offered by the hotel was the very first thing I did after checking-in. Thankfully, there was a free slot just a couple of hours later in the day which I immediately booked for myself without any hesitation.

To reward my almost broken and very tired body, I opted for a full package which comprises an hour full body massage, followed by Turkish Hamam, Sauna, and a Jacuzzi session. All the services cost me 400 Turkish Lira, which was brought about in the VIP massage room in the spa. It was an extremely relaxing massage therapy and it was everything my body needed at that time. I was even offered a complimentary Turkish tea during my time in Jacuzzi leaving me with absolutely nothing to complain about!

Deluxe Room With Some Serious Views

Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn was kind enough to give me one of the best rooms at the property with perhaps the best view of the city. I stayed in the cozy and comfortable deluxe room with sea view, which has all the essential amenities in the room. However, my favorite part was the huge attached balcony with the room overlooking the beautiful Golden Horn waterway. I watched the sun setting over the mountains while sitting in the balcony and reading a book. Certainly, it was one of the best sunsets I witnessed in the city and certainly one of the favorite moments of my Istanbul itinerary.

Nearby Restaurants & Lazy Strolling

If good restaurants in a walking distance are something which you prioritize while deciding where to stay in Istanbul then Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn will not disappoint you. The hotel has a bunch of restaurants and cafés just adjacent to it or on a bare three minutes walking distance. The nearby restaurants and cafes serve both Turkish and continental food. I choose to dine in at the Long Lounge Café and Restaurant – just a minute walk away from the hotel. It is a rooftop café where you can enjoy some nice views with a lovely breeze while dining.

One of the things which I really enjoyed while staying at Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn was the quiet neighborhood and nearly zero tourist crowd in the area. It helped me to fully enjoy the local vibe of Istanbul without being pushed between a million tourists. After the dinner, I took a nice lazy stroll across the waterway just opposite to the hotel passing by locals dining there, teenage boys playing football and young couples walking hand in hand. This was the Istanbul which I didn’t see during my earlier visits when I stayed in the touristy area of Sultanahmet.

Attractions & Public Transportation

The major attractions of Istanbul including the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, and Spice Bazar are all less than 5km distance from the hotel. Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn is not accessible directly by the Istanbul tram, which connects most of the major tourist attractions in the city. However, alternatively, you can use the bus to reach the nearest tram station and then move around the major attractions of the city. If you don’t want to use public transport, just ask for a taxi at the hotel reception and they will call one for you immediately.

Concluding thoughts…

Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn is ideal for couples and families who would like to stay away from the noisy over-crowded touristy districts of Istanbul like Sultanahmet and Eminonu. The neighborhood of Beyoglu, where the hotel is situated in a residential area with wide lovely walkaways and green patches of grass along the road to walk, read a book or simply sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the city.

Without any doubts, my stay at the Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Golden Horn was pleasant and extremely relaxing. From the comfortable home-like room to a soothing spa session and a scrumptious breakfast – I really don’t have any complains whatsoever. I would definitely recommend while planning where to stay in Istanbul, you should look no further!
